Think you are good enough to get to heaven? If you think so lets take a look at the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17)
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
Have you ever put someone before God, or thought of someone more highly than God, e.g celebrity, friend, or role model?
2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image...
Have you ever thought that money was all you need to be happy, or that new car, or new shoes? Has there ever been a material object that was the focus of all your attention?
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Have you ever used God's name as a swear word or in a condemning way towards another person?
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Do you set a day aside just for the Lord? Do you set aside any part of the day aside for Him?
5. Honor your father and your mother.
Have you ever been disrespectful towards either of your parents and/or guardians?
6. You shall not murder.
Probably not, but Jesus says, "...whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement." Matthew 5:21 NKJV
The apostle John says, "Whoever hates his brother is a murderer..." 1 John 3:15 NKJV
So have you ever been angry with someone for no legitimate reason? Have you ever hated?
7. You shall not commit adultery.
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ’You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Matthew 5:27-29 NKJV; Have you ever lusted after another?
8. You shall not steal.
Have you ever stolen anything, pencil at work, paper clips, etc?
9. You shall not lie.
Have you EVER told a lie, no matter how big or little? Example: Wife to husband "Honey, how do I look?"
10. You shall not covet.
Have you ever so desired something that you would do just about anything to get it?
So now do you think you are good enough?
